Fireballs Beat Visiting Argonauts, 9-2
|
With left fielder Takashi Tsuruta leading the charge, the Joplin Fireballs defeated the Astoria Argonauts, 9-2, at The Firepit. Tsuruta, who is tied for 5th in the DKL in doubles with 5, was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win was credited to Ricardo Castros in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Rod Larcombe took the loss. The Argonauts fall to 6-10 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2034 season.
The Fireballs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Toby Chave. For the game, Chave went 1-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Joplin a 2-0 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Chave said after the game.
