The Fairfield Flash beat the Chicago Titans, 10-9, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Fairfield designated hitter Dan Thibodeau earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Fairfield reliever Alex Gutierrez picked up the win to move to 1-0. Tsuneyo Kichikawa suffered the loss. The win brings the Flash to 8-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Thibodeau. Facing Tsuneyo Kichikawa with the bases loaded, the Fairfield designated hitter had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Game over, walk-off style!
