Fans who congregated at The Hole were treated to extra-inning drama.

Pasadena left fielder Héctor Garza was sensational. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Detroit beat the Bumblebees, 7-6. Garza was named the player of the game despite the loss. Kent Whitten locked down his 3rd save.

Javier Cortés's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a changeup from António Mejía for a run-scoring single. It put Detroit in front, 7-6.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Detroit field general Loren Garrison.

The win takes Detroit to 5-4.
