Sweet Excels, But Raptors Win
Curt Sweet did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Detroit Death Stars from losing, 12-11, to the Omaha Raptors at Anchorage Municipal Stadium. Sweet went 3-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Omaha, now 6-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Had Marcos Ortíz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Ortíz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 11-10, in favor of the Raptors.

Ortíz told a Omaha Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
