Fireballs Stay Hot, Beat Freeze
|
Joplin designated hitter Toby Chave made his presence felt in the 7-4 Fireballs triumph over the Minneapolis Freeze. Chave belted 2 home runs. Dave Conboy got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The Fireballs, now 6-1, have stormed out of the gates.
The Fireballs got a big at-bat from second baseman Juan Gruzmán. For the game, Gruzmán was 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Joplin a 5-4 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Chave told the Joplin Bulletin.
