Baristas Lose, 5-2, at Casa de Fuego
|
The Espanola Bomberos defeated the Silver Lake Baristas, 5-2, in Nick Adenhart League action at Casa de Fuego, with Espanola pitcher Tokutomi Nishida named player of the game. The winning pitcher was Nishida, now 1-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 4. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Ronaldo Pérez.
Brendan Webb had a big 2-run double for the Bomberos in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Espanola leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Arata Shimizu and stroked the double to right. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bomberos ahead, 5-1.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Nishida told reporters after the game.
The loss lowers the Silver Lake record to 2-5.
