Schäfer Hits 2 home runs in Coal Miners Win
|
Roger Schäfer left his imprint on the 5-1 Antioch win against the Peoria Caterpillars. Schäfer, who is rated as the 94th best prospect by BNN, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Antioch starter Lúcio Barrón was credited with the win after throwing 124 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Rick Childress, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
The Coal Miners got a big at-bat from designated hitter Manny Durán. For the game, Durán went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Antioch a 2-0 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Schäfer.
Antioch, now 4-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.
