Multi-HR Day for Sui as Pioneers Overpower Toreros, 5-3
|
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros opened their 2034 season with a disappointing 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Pioneers at Field de Los Layendas. First Baseman Khai Sui was a big part of the win for Vancouver. He went 3-3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Vancouver reliever John Bunce picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Albert Giles took the loss.
Sui had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Albert Giles, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Pioneers a 5-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Sui.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Vancouver manager Dorian McNeal. "It's usually not just one thing."
