The Cacti faced a stiff challenge from Fort Worth pitcher He-ping Wang, but persevered to claim a win at LaGrave Field. The final score was 3-2. Wang went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Albuquerque reliever Manuel Pena got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Robby Guzman was tagged with the loss. Willie Fierro picked up the save for Albuquerque, his 2nd of the year.

The Cacti beat the Cats with some clutch hitting. The single by Scott Stone in the top of the ninth is a good example. With two down, Stone gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he came through with the big hit.

Afterward, Cacti manager Tom Robertson was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."

Albuquerque, now 4-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
