The Freeze faced a stiff challenge from Pasadena pitcher Wade White, but persevered to claim a win at The Ice Box. The final score was 5-4. White went 8.1 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. The Freeze, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.
Late-game drama came in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Rien van Helvert, hit a single. It helped Minneapolis seize the win.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Pasadena manager Ramón Rosário. "But we decided not to take it."
