River Chiefs Get Road Win, 5-3
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the St. Paul Saints home opener. Teagan Cooper started for the home team against Kazue Fujita for the Chippewa River Chiefs. The Saints were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 5-3, Chippewa. Kazue Fujita was named player of the game. The save went to Mark Luoto, his 1st this season.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from first baseman Brian Arms. For the game, Arms went 3-5 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 3rd hit of the season gave Chippewa a 2-0 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Fujita said after the game.
