Cacti Get Road Win, 7-1
|
The Indian Wells Aeropostales inaugurated the 2034 campaign with a disappointing 7-1 loss to the Albuquerque Cacti at Stars Field. Albuquerque catcher Kiyoji Matsumoto had a big impact on the outcome. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win was Dan Thompson's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Maite Tadeo took the loss for Indian Wells.
Albuquerque used the timely hitting of Miguel Rosero to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cacti on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Albuquerque manager Tom Robertson. "Our pregame was pretty good."
