Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Antioch Coal Miners home opener. Takeji Ogawa started for the home team against Max Grant for the Bronx Bombers. The Coal Miners were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 11-10, Bronx. Harry May was named player of the game. Max Grant earned the win for Bronx. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. The save went to Ewan Pethick, his 1st this season.

Bill Ottinger aided the Bronx cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
