Blair Helps Portland Cruise to 12-3 Win
|
The Portland Beavers defeated the So Cal Republic, 12-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at House of the Republic, with Portland catcher Ralph Blair named player of the game. Felipe De La Hoya got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Portland goes to 2-0 with the win.
Blair had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Beavers went on to win.
"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Portland skipper John Harrison.
