|
The South Carolina Bombers defeated the Maple Marauders, 8-3, at Legends Park. South Carolina designated hitter Zhao-ying Gai was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Sotatsu Hayagawa was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. The Bombers bumped their record to 78-78 with this latest triumph.
Gai had a key at-bat for South Carolina early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 35th home run of the season and gave South Carolina an early 3-0 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gai.
