Multi-HR Game for Zamora in 7-3 Win
|
The Maple Marauders stopped the South Carolina Bombers, 7-3, behind an impressive performance from Jorge Zamora. The 31-year old third baseman made life miserable for South Carolina pitching. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Khurshid Durrani got the win, improving to 16-8. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Justin Rogers, credited with the save, is now 5 for 7 in save opportunities.
Zamora had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, when he hit a grand slam. The Marauders went on to win.
"This was a good win for us," said Zamora. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The first-place Marauders, at 104-52, now lead their division by 12 games.
