Allen Cox pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Hawaii Islanders, despite Cox's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Las Vegas Aces at Sin City Stadium. Amaui Mahi'ai got the save, his 18th in 22 chances. The last-place Aces improved to 59-96.

The Aces got a big at-bat from first baseman Norberto Rivera. For the game, Rivera was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 44th hit of the season gave Las Vegas a 2-1 lead.
