Republic Come Up Short at Portland
The Portland Beavers did just enough to secure a 8-7 victory over the So Cal Republic at Waterfront Park. Nobody did more than first baseman Lai-hsiang Xiu, who captured player of the game honors. Portland reliever Alberto Ramírez was the winner. His record is now 3-5. Héctor González took the loss. At 72-82, the Beavers are currently 4th in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.

Xiu had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-1 fastball from Héctor González, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Beavers a 8-7 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Xiu.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Xiu said after the game.
