San Francisco starter John Ketchum pitched effectively against the Vancouver Pioneers at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. The left-hander led his team to a 9-1 win. San Francisco occupies 5th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division at 62-92.

The Earthquakes got a big at-bat from left fielder Hisaji Maekawa. For the game, Maekawa went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 23rd double of the season gave San Francisco a 1-0 lead.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Ketchum.
