Texans Slip Past New England, 2-1
|
New England got a terrific performance from pitcher Fred Price, but it wasn't enough to beat the Dallas Texans. Dallas won the Skellington Stadium contest, 2-1. Price was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Dallas reliever Maximino Pato was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Kenny Allen took the loss. The win brings the Texans to 7-9, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Augusto Reyes, hit a single. It helped Dallas seize the win.
"We did just enough to win," Reyes said.
