Pioneers Need Extras to Top Bombers
|
Vancouver and South Carolina duked it out at Bomber Ballpark and the Pioneers came out victorious.
The South Carolina Bombers got a sterling performance from center fielder Rafael Campos, but the Pioneers still prevailed, 7-5. Campos was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 4 for 7 with a triple, 3 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Bernard Edgar got the save, his 1st in 3 chances.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from second baseman Tofeeq Kuchis. For the game, Kuchis was 2-8 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. In the top of the 17th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 118th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 7-5 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Kuchis. "And not try to do too much."
Vancouver now has a 3-game win streak.
