San Francisco Wins, Maekawa goes 3-for-4
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes defeated the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 6-3, at Field de Los Layendas. San Francisco left fielder Hisaji Maekawa was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Eddie Rosado got the save, his 21st in 24 chances. The 5th-place Earthquakes improved to 59-91.
The Earthquakes got a big at-bat from center fielder Fletch Hiller. For the game, Hiller went 3-5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 68th hit of the season gave San Francisco a 4-3 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Hiller.
