Tornadoes Bridle Pioneers, 4-3
|
The Kansas City Tornadoes topped the Vancouver Pioneers by the score of 4-3, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Ross Stephenson. Stephenson went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Tornadoes. The win was credited to Damon Willis in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Munemori Abe took the loss. The Tornadoes now own a record of 57-87.
Stephenson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch fastball from Dan Miscavage, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Tornadoes a 2-1 lead. It was the 19th home run of the year for Stephenson.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Vancouver skipper Dorian McNeal, "and it cost us."
