Bombers Win in Extras
|
The Havana Stogies got a superb performance from pitcher Diego Santiago, but the South Carolina Bombers still won the game, 3-2. Santiago was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. South Carolina reliever Tom Pick picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Felipe Arreola absorbed the loss. The Bombers bumped their record to 71-71 with this latest triumph.
Lonnie Martin chipped in for South Carolina with a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 2 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
Afterward, Bombers manager Randy Huggett was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
