Beavers Lose to Tornadoes, 4-2
|
Kansas City got a strong outing from Gerard Kotas as the Tornadoes defeated the Portland Beavers, 4-2, at Waterfront Park. Kotas, now 8-8, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Al Hrabosky Jr. got the save, his 15th in 19 chances.
Ken Bush went 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs for Kansas City. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Hajime Ota. It was his 63rd RBI of the season.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Bush told a Kansas City Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
The 4th-place Beavers have dropped 4 straight games.
