Pioneers Win in Extras
|
The Hawaii Islanders got a superb performance from pitcher Rodrigo Garza, but the Vancouver Pioneers still won the game, 3-1. Garza was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. At 67-77, Vancouver is in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
Vancouver needed the clutch hitting of Justin Nance to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Pioneers on top, 3-1. For the game, Nance had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
