Beavers Lose, 6-2, at McNichols Stadium
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 27-year old catcher Reece Wager, the Mile High Mustangs stopped the Portland Beavers, 6-2. Dane Manwaring, credited with the win, is now 5-3. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings. Pedro García converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Wager had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 cutter from Sean Nichols, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Mustangs a 4-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Wager.
"I thought we played a nice game," Wager told the Mile High News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Mustangs now own a record of 74-66.
