Stogies Lose, 5-3, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place
|
The Vancouver Pioneers topped the Havana Stogies by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Baskoro Pamungkas. Pamungkas went 1 for 1 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Pioneers on the day. The winner was Barrett Lamb, who threw 91 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 14 save opportunities.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from left fielder Yoshiro Allen. For the game, Allen went 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 8th triple of the season gave Vancouver a 2-1 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Pamungkas.
The 4th-place Pioneers lifted their record to 64-76.
