Hornets Turn Back San Francisco, 3-1
|
Eureka and San Francisco played a hard-fought contest at Golden Gate Park.
The Eureka Hornets defeated the San Francisco Earthquakes, 3-1, in Thurman Munson League action at Golden Gate Park, with Eureka pitcher Pepe Trevino named player of the game. Martin Blank notched his 3rd save in 3 chances.
Eureka used the timely hitting of Dermott Glennon to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hornets on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Trevino said after the game.
The Hornets now own a record of 63-74.
