Kato Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
|
South Carolina Bombers second baseman Masanori Kato had a day to remember at McNichols Stadium today, ripping apart the Mile High Mustangs and sparking the Bombers to a 12-0 victory.
Kato wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Kato told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Masanori Kato singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Dane Manwaring in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season in 24 games, Kato has hit at a .374 clip with 34 hits, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
