Benefiting from Armando Espinoza's productive game, the Vancouver Pioneers downed the Rubber City Rhinos, 4-3. Espinoza was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Pioneers. Humberto Saucedo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-7. Tom Hanson was tagged with the loss. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 12 save opportunities.

The Pioneers got a big at-bat from right fielder Tsunayoshi Ito. For the game, Ito went 1-3. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 25th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 4-3 lead.

"Both teams played hard," said Vancouver manager Dorian McNeal.

With the win, the Pioneers have a record of 59-73.
