Hops Lose to Blazers, 11-5
|
Benefiting from Fernando Franco's productive game, the Bloomington Blazers downed the San Diego Hops, 11-5. Franco went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs for the Blazers. Dong-soo Bruce picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 11-5. Jim Phillips was tagged with the loss. The Blazers bumped their record to 79-51 with this latest triumph.
The tide might have turned with two out in the bottom of the first, had not Jim Obershaw made a big pitch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Hops trailing 3-1, he retired Jejomar Butardo, who flied out.
