Rhinos Drop Pioneers with Late Score
|
The Rhinos grabbed a win, 4-3, at The Rubber Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from Vancouver pitcher Tony Velázquez. Velázquez went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Rubber City reliever Shinzo Sasaki was the winner. His record is now 7-9. The losing pitcher was Bernard Edgar. At 62-69, the Rhinos are currently third in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
Rubber City took a 4-3 lead on Aidan Turgoose's 24th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Vancouver pitcher Bernard Edgar in the bottom of the eighth.
Vancouver manager Dorian McNeal said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
