Hornets Lose to Republic, 5-3
|
The So Cal Republic picked up a win at House of the Republic, knocking off the Eureka Hornets, 5-3. Starting pitcher Phoenix Smith, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Smith picked up the win for So Cal, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 15-9. Pin-zhen Au was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 33 of 36 save opportunities.
Zeus Mayhem, who is tied for 6th in the RCL in bases on balls with 66, aided the So Cal cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"I like our moxie," said Republic manager Munenori Sato.
So Cal leads the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division by 10˝ games.
