Bombers Turn Back Hawaii, 7-5

The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at Bomber Ballpark enjoyed themselves.
Behind a solid performance from left fielder Shawn Harris, the South Carolina Bombers defeated the Hawaii Islanders, 7-5. Harris went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Bombers. The win was credited to Ivan Perez in relief. His record improves to 6-2. Pat McConnell took the loss. Ed Armstrong was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 34 of 37 save opportunities.
Had Esteban Ruíz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Ruíz hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Bombers.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Harris.
The Bombers bumped their record to 64-63 with this latest triumph.
