Bombers Topple Toreros with Late Rally
|
The South Carolina Bombers faced a tough opponent in Cabo San Lucas pitcher Masazumi Ohayashi, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Field de Los Layendas by a final score of 5-2. Ohayashi went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Ed Armstrong converted his 33rd save in 36 tries. The Bombers bumped their record to 61-61 with this latest triumph.
The Bombers got a big at-bat from right fielder Kiyonobu Yamasaki. For the game, Yamasaki went 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the ninth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 11th home run of the season gave South Carolina a 3-2 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Yamasaki, "and today was a good one for us."
