Pioneers Edge Past Blazers, 3-2

The Vancouver Pioneers faced a tough opponent in Bloomington pitcher Pedro Vazquez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Arson Arena by a final score of 3-2. Vazquez went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The win was credited to Gabe Loza in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Paco Berroa took the loss. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu converted his 8th save in 10 tries.
Tsunayoshi Ito swatted a 2-run home run for Vancouver in the top of the ninth. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 2.
"We take it day by day here," said Ito, "and today was a good one for us."
The Pioneers go to 56-68, putting them 4th in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
