Marauders Lose to Earthquakes, 10-7
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes downed the Maple Marauders, 10-7, at Golden Gate Park. The Earthquakes were led by Danny Martinez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Eddie Rosado converted his 13th save in 16 tries. The Earthquakes go to 47-77, putting them last in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
Andy Grimley had a big 2-run double for the Earthquakes in the bottom of the sixth inning. With San Francisco trailing 7-4 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Roger Rogers and stroked the double to left. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Earthquakes ahead, 7-6.
"We take it day by day here," said Grimley, "and today was a good one for us."
