Burry Helps Islanders Run Win Streak to 3
|
The Hawaii Islanders knocked off the New England Colonials, 7-4, at Aloha Stadium. Jim Burry, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Hawaii won. The third baseman went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Reliever Pedre Pedrogo picked up the win. His record improves to 5-4. Mauro Rodríguez took the loss. Pat McConnell notched his 5th save in 6 chances.
The Islanders got a big at-bat from second baseman Tynan Miller. For the game, Miller was 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 150th hit of the season gave Hawaii a 5-4 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Miller told the Hawaii Bulletin.
Hawaii has a 3-game win streak, while New England has lost 3 in a row.
