Mustangs Get One-Run Win at Eureka
|
Rintaro Shinoda never let the Hornets get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Mustangs to a 2-1 win. Shinoda, the winner, moves to 10-8. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Quan Que converted his 29th save in 31 tries.
Had Rafael Vázquez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vázquez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Mustangs.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Mile High skipper Kinnojo Shirai.
The Mustangs bumped their record to 64-57 with this latest triumph.
