Aces Best Stogies in Pitching Duel
|
Amaui Mahi'ai never let the Stogies get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Aces to a 2-0 win. Mahi'ai, the winner, moves to 3-9. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Juan Carlos Baraja converted his 5th save in 8 tries.
The Aces got a big at-bat from catcher Stanley Comiskey. For the game, Comiskey went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 62nd hit of the season gave Las Vegas a 2-0 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Las Vegas skipper Chris Schell.
Even with the win, the Aces have a dismal 41-77 record.
