Colonials Stay Hot, Beat Black Knights
|
Skellington Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Brooklyn Black Knights and New England Colonials.
The New England Colonials topped the Brooklyn Black Knights, 3-1, in Roberto Clemente League action at Skellington Stadium. The player of the game was New England pitcher Juan Martínez. Martínez, the winner, moves to 8-12. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks.
Gil Cozart was 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch for New England. The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Elijah Green. It was his 55th RBI of the season.
"I like our mindset right now," said New England manager Todd Belcher.
