Phillips Sensational for Hops
|
The San Diego Hops got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jim Phillips, who muffled the Seattle offense en route to a tight 3-0 Hops win at Sick's Stadium. The Hops saw their record improve to 49-67.
Phillips allowed no earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings for the Hops. He walked 1 and struck out 7.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" San Diego manager Randy England said.
