Marauders Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
Maple and South Carolina duked it out at Bomber Ballpark and the Marauders came out victorious.
The South Carolina Bombers got a superb performance from pitcher Ángel Ruíz. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Maple. The Marauders won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Ruíz was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Héctor Zúñiga, credited with the win, is now 11-5. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.1 innings.
Maple used the timely hitting of Jordan Smith to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Marauders on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Smith told the Maple Daily News.
Maple now has a 5-game win streak.
