Big Game from Germán Not Enough, Fuego Lose
|
Despite a great performance by Santa Fe right fielder Fernando Germán, the Brooklyn Black Knights defeated the Fuego by the score of 8-6 at Blue Ivy Stadium. Germán slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Brooklyn reliever Xiong Yang picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Hayden Capel shouldered the loss. Ji-hwan Yea got the save, his 31st in 37 chances.
Sachi Watanabe contributed to the Brooklyn win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI.
Watanabe called the triumph "a good team win."
The Black Knights now have a record of 52-58 with the win over Santa Fe.
