Brooklyn starter Koi-sho An put a stranglehold on the Portland offense. The left-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Black Knights to a 4-1 win. Ji-hwan Yea earned his 30th save in 36 chances. Brooklyn is now 51-58, Portland 53-58.

The Black Knights got a big at-bat from center fielder David Ramírez. For the game, Ramírez went 1-3. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 65th hit of the season gave Brooklyn a 1-0 lead.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Ramírez told the Brooklyn Daily News.
