Stogies Get One-Run Win at Portland
|
Luke Riviere did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Portland Beavers from losing, 5-4, to the Havana Stogies at Waterfront Park. Riviere went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Stogies own a robust 72-34 mark.
Fernando Cruz drove in one run for Havana. The 32-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Peter McColgan. It was his 35th RBI of the season.
In postgame comments to the Havana Daily, Cruz said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
