Blazers Mow Down Armada, 11-4
|
Getting a good performance from catcher Eugene Axe, the Bloomington Blazers defeated the Quebec Armada, 11-4. Axe was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Blazers. Jim Obershaw was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 10 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. John Now notched his 3rd save in 5 chances.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth when Axe, who is rated as the 10th best prospect by BNN, hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Blazers into the lead, 5-3.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Axe.
The Blazers bumped their record to 61-44 with this latest triumph.
