The San Diego Hops faced a tough opponent in Hawaii pitcher Allen Cox, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Aloha Stadium by a final score of 3-1. Cox went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. San Diego is now 45-61. Hawaii is 66-43.
The Hops got a big at-bat from right fielder Nadir Rizvi. For the game, Rizvi was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the tenth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave San Diego a 3-1 lead.
Rizvi said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
