Rhinos Stymie New England, Take 3-1 Win
|
Harold Planter did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New England Colonials from losing, 3-1, to the Rubber City Rhinos at Skellington Stadium. Planter went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. Vincent Vickers was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Anupradana Agarkar notched his 14th save in 19 chances.
Billy Joel, who is rated as the 72nd best prospect by BNN, aided the Rubber City cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 4 with a double.
In postgame comments to the Rubber City Herald, Joel said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win puts the Rhinos at 50-58, while the Colonials drop to 50-55.
